Holy Family Hope Orphanage, Marquette

This is a 6-story building in Marquette, MI said be an abandoned orphanage run by the Catholic sect in Marquette. Most of the windows and doors are locked and boarded up. The building has odd walls and crevices from being built onto over the years. Inside, there is very little light and it is totally dark on the lower two levels. It is rotten and falling apart. The layout of the building is very confusing; many of the floors have the same rooms and same colors painted in the rooms. There are multiple stairwells and several small side rooms, dumbwaiter shafts and an open elevator shaft. Many of the doors on the back of the building open into open space, as there is no longer a fire-escape. The atmosphere of the building is very menacing and depressing at the same time. Neighboring houses around the orphanage report seeing figures of children in the building, hear laughing or screaming, and reported different stories. Children were reported to have been beaten or killed, and one story is that a little girl caught pneumonia and died from playing outside in a blizzard/snow, and her body was put on display as a lesson to the other children of why not to play outside. Overall, it's not suprising why it's considered haunted; it's very large and very creepy.

Is there anybody who might have more info on this place?

I became a member just to talk to you about this orphanage....The orphanage was run by a catholic organization from Wisconsin, it is true about the little girl who died there, she still is seen playing outside the building.There is a little boy that has been spotted and a nun as well. It is run down as you said but I loved the theater the ceilings are very cool looking and when it was built in 1914 it must of been really beautiful.
I spent lots of time in that building lately, I have researched it in all the archives locally. We have been in there when we heard the children playing, we saw a vapor that came at us and was colder than a U.P. winter. The last time I went in we just took pictures. Orbs were in some. Mostly in the basement. But digitals cant be trusted so we are going in with a 35 mil camera.
We went into every room in that building and its hard sometimes to even know what floor you are on unless you look out a window.
We had a druid bless a tree that gave our 2 mediums a bad feeling, actually it scared them. When I took a picture of it there was a huge orb.
The building does have a sad atmoshere and yet a sense of evilness to it. We heard alot of rumors about it, ones that I wont dismiss. I have some reliable sources and we will get to the truth.

Just a few questions:

1. Did you need any certain permission to investigate
the orphanage or did you just sneek in?
2. What did you investigate and what results did you get?
3. Are you willing to elaborate on your last paragraph?

The only way to get into that building is to sneek in. The owner who lives in arizonia wont do anything with that building, the city has been even coming down on him hard.
I have been in that building a few times now. We had several experiences with paranormal activity. There is a medium thats in my group. Her and I while we were in the building just snooping around heard children laughing. Another time there was a Vapor that came at us and was colder than a UP winter, and the smell of whatever it was, grossed us out so bad that it made my medium vomit. We know that there were kids that did "rituals" but didnt have a clue to what they were doing. We believe that they may have opened a portal that they didnt close. So we went in to find that evilness that has been sensed by us. The night we went in we smudged ourselves and walked all the hallways and all the rooms. We took loads of pictures but there were a bunch of teens in there as well and we couldnt get any readings and the pictures showed a few orbs thats it. Nothing was sensed or seen.
We will be going back in when we are alone and we will check it out again. By finding the truth I mean that we will know exactly what is going on in there. We know there is a little girl's spirit that plays around the outside of the building, she has been seen. A little boy has been seen sitting on the stairs on the south side of the building.We know there are children but we also know there is something else that dwells in the orphanage.

I live in Marquette and have often wondered about the orphanage as I drove by... I can't say I haven't thought about sneaking in myself, however.

lilith, in your experience is the orphanage a relatively busy place as far as people sneaking inside for whatever reason? It seems like it's right out in the open and would be hard to get into without neighbors, etc. seeing or hearing you, even at night.

Also, is there any evidence regarding the children's death's and other stories to be found in newspapers or other records? I've heard stories but don't know if they are based on documented events or just made up by someone.
